Rome is, for beer enthusiasts, the land of toys, the places of beer are many, including places with internal production or not, just think of places like Stavio, Beerstrot, Brewdog, Queen Makeda and others. We have selected some of them divided by areas (Prati, San Pietro and Trastevere) that we think should definitely be tried. For the atmosphere, the choice of spines, the selection of spirits, the goodness of the gastronomic offer. Addresses to mark in the diary and test as soon as possible.
IN TRASTEVERE….
BIRRIFUGIO (****)
Via Federico Rosazza 6 00153 Roma – Tel. +39 06 5830 3189
Il Birrifugio is a slightly decentralized place from the nightlife center in Trastevere and frequented more by
Romans than tourists. The pub is furnished in an English style completely made of wood. To drink there is a wide selection of craft beers on tap and in bottles: the Brewery has more than 80 types of beer from all over the world. To eat it offers salads, fried foods, wraps, sandwiches, crepes, first courses, main courses and soups, which with bruschetta and a type of piadina are among the few dishes suitable for vegans. The restaurant also organizes some tasting evenings of craft beers, but for these events it is necessary to book.

Essentiality, frankness and a precise choice to free gastronomy from artifices and clichés. These are the characters chosen by Mirko Rizzo and Federico Feliziani to restart with the new L’Elementare Trastevere
where Roman pizza and craft beer are the masters. After just over a year of activity limited by the pandemic, here is a new Roman street food proposal that has every intention of becoming an icon of simplicity with a menu full of genuine flavors.

MA CHE SIETE VENUTI A FA (*****)
Via Benedetta 25, 00153 Roma Italia – Tel. +39 06 6456 2046The sacred temple of craft beer in Rome, known everywhere in the city and for several years at the top of Ratebeer’s international rankings as the
best pub. Without the work of Manuele Colonna and Fabio Zaniol, the echo of craftsmanship would not be as powerful, in Rome as in much of Italy. A hole of a few square meters, always full of thirsty people, but where there is everything a pub has to offer: music, widespread chatter and easy fooling around. And great beers, of course. The offer centered on Italian products, but without forgetting abroad.

MR. BROWN (*****)
Vicolo del 5, 29, 00153 Roma – Tel. +39 333 472 3392
Just behind Piazza Trilussa, Mr Brown is a famous place in Trastevere above all for its cocktails and for an excellent value for money. With only 5 euros you
can also ask the barman to improvise a cocktail just for you. The shots with the original names, priced at 2 euros, are served in small glasses of chocolate. The setting, with red bricks on the walls, is warm and the service is friendly. The place is very popular, especially on Saturday evenings, and is a fixed stop in the evenings “collapse” for the very low prices, difficult to find in a neighborhood like Trastevere.

Freni e Frizioni is one of the clubs not far from Piazza Trilussa that attracts much of the Trastevere nightlife towards it. The pub also has outdoor tables, but if there is no room it is not a problem: the nearby wall
has now become an extension of the seating. The place is famous for the Freni mix, a series of blends that added to cocktails give it a taste that you can only find here. Equally popular is the buffet aperitif, where for 10 euros you can enjoy simple and organic dishes, often vegetarian.

MORRISON’S (*****)
Via Ennio Quirino Visconti 88, 00193 Roma Italia – Tel. +39 06 322 2265
(Cocktail, Pub)
In the heart of Prati, far from the cars and the chaos of the city, is Morrison’s, an authentic pub, where the Irish and Italian souls mix, in a perfect mix of flavor and fun. A place open all day, from lunch, to aperitifs, to dinner, which will satisfy your thirst as well as your hunger, in a well-kept, lively and welcoming
environment. A real meeting place for Romans and not, looking for the right place to switch off and where to chat with friends. Inside, the restaurant was entirely furnished by Irish architects, and the result was that of a warm and suggestive location: wooden furniture, comfortable upholstered sofas, low lights, plaques and signs of old pubs across the Channel located here and there on the walls. The bar counter is almost infinite and it is possible to consume your own drinks, without sitting at the table. Morrison’s opens for lunch offering quick and appetizing meals; and every day aperitif, dinner and after dinner, until late at night. To eat, the pub offers sandwiches, meat dishes, fried food, hamburgers, desserts and snacks: the cuisine is that of a pub, but the taste is not bad. To drink, the cocktail list is really long. The choice of beer is very good (Guinness, Killkenny, Harp and many more). Beer cocktails are also very good and the selection of whiskeys and rums is really valuable. The list of national and international wines is also quite rich. The ideal place for a cheerful evening with friends, but also as a couple, drinking good beer and listening to good music, Morrison’s is one of the best Guinness pubs in Rome, a refined place in style, genuine in content and with a young and informal. Prices are industry average. Arm yourself with a little patience to find parking.

FOUR GREEN FIELDS (****)
Via Silvio Pellico 18-20-22, 00195 Roma Italia – Tel. +39 06 372 5091
(Ireland Pub, Grill & Gastropub)
Historic pub in Rome since 1980, 11 draft beers, express first courses and unique dishes. From 07:30 to 21:00 Happy Beer Pinta 56cl for only € 4. Near subway A station Ottaviano. The Four Green Fields opens
to the public on December 19, 1980, during these 40 years there have been many activities that have allowed the Four Green Fields to become an important meeting point for the Delle Vittorie / Prati district: live music , the television broadcasting of football matches and other sporting events, have contributed to the success of the place … but the excellent draft beer and catering are always the real driving force of the Four. The strong point is certainly the fact that there have been very few managements that have alternated to run the place, always keeping the same name by now famous and known in many corners of Rome; name that recalls the four Irish counties (four green fields), also represented in the choice of the logo and which characterize the place as an “Irish RistoPub”. Another strong point was to keep the Pub characteristic in its furnishing style, even in the change of location as much as possible it kept this identity …. definitively abandoning the transmission of the matches on TV. This and more is the Four Green Fields!

SHAMROCK PUB (****)
Via del Colosseo, 1C, 00184 Roma Italia – Tel. +39 06 679 1729
Probably the best pub in town … A stone’s throw from the Colosseum in the heart of Rione Monti, the Shamrock is a unique place of its kind, a true Irish-style Public House, a meeting point for tourists and
regulars. Surrounded by the largest collection of international football scarves ever seen in Rome, distracted by the numerous rugby memorabilia, between a pint and a whiskey you can let yourself be absorbed by the most diverse speeches. The air-conditioned rooms make it the perfect place to relax during the summer heat and the outdoor tables allow total immersion in the context of the center of Rome. Shamrock is an Irish pub where petty philosophy can be mixed with sports discussions, perhaps during a table football match.

TRINITY COLLEGE (****)
Via del Collegio Romano 6, 00186 Roma Italia – Tel. +39 06 678 6472
A few steps from the Pantheon and Piazza Venezia, there is one of the most cosmopolitan clubs in Rome: Trinity College. Pub, discopub, ristopub, cocktail bar: Trinity College is a place with a thousand faces, which in a small but welcoming space manages to entertain Romans and foreigners every evening, with
excellent drinks and pleasant musical selections. An Irish-style pub, which inside manages to combine international taste with Italian style, recreating a young and sparkling environment. Trinity College is housed in an elegant Art Nouveau building in the heart of Rome. Inside it is not very spacious: it is on two levels, but both the lower and upper floors don’t have much space, and the tables are very close to each other. In any case, it is a very welcoming, warm place, where wood and Irish elegance are the masters, in a perfect mix of tradition and innovation. The lights are low, the music accompanies every moment of the evening and the feeling you get is that of being in an old-fashioned pub, with ancient traditions. In summer, it is also possible to sit at the tables outside, just a stone’s throw from Via del Corso. Trinity College As for the menu, at Trinity College it starts with an aperitif, ends with an after dinner drink, passing through a tasty international dinner. The restaurant is equipped upstairs and you can choose from pasta dishes, salads, scamorza, sandwiches, fried, Danish meat, Mexican dishes and desserts. The cuisine is of good quality. Downstairs, dedicated exclusively to the cocktail bar, you can have a drink: the choice of cocktails is fine and well-made, while for beers you go from Guinness, Harp, Carlsberg, Bulmers. After 10pm, Trinity College turns into a real disco club: the resident DJs begin to warm up the atmosphere and wait for the right moment to start the evening. Different musical genres, ranging from R’n’B music to happy music, from pop music to house. Of course, the space available is very limited, but the warmth and enthusiasm of the staff will still make your evening fun, well into the night. In addition, all afternoon, until 20.00 it is possible to have a drink, a typical Guinness and cocktails in Happy Hour, enlivened by good music. On request, all the most important SKY sporting events are also broadcast on a big screen. Trinity College Trinity College is the ideal place for an evening with friends, looking for fun and new acquaintances, an always lively and international location where you can chat, party and drink something good. Prices are slightly above average. The service is fast and courteous. When reaching it by car, there are often parking problems, not to mention that the restaurant is located outside the ZTL area, an off-limit area on weekends.

SCOLARS LOUNGE IRISH PUB (****)
Via del Plebiscito 101/B, 00186 Roma Italia – Tel. +39 06 6920 2208
In the best Irish pub in the world, neither English nor Gaelic is spoken, but in the Roman dialect of Trastevere. Strange but true, in fact, to win the Irish Pubs Global Awards, the annual Oscar of Irish pubs, it was a surprise just a place in the capital: the Scholars Lounge in via del Plebiscito. The Capitoline
restaurant, opened in September 2005, was ranked first in the two sections concerning the best European pub outside of Ireland and the best pub including Ireland, beating the competition of 16,000 Irish pubs from all over the globe, judged by music, staff, atmosphere, decor, cuisine, whiskey selection, beer and other spirits. The whiskey selection is one of the many flagships of the Scholas Lounge: 350 different labels for true connoisseurs of blond alcohol. But that is not all. Just in pure “Johnny Fox” style, the restaurant, with a capacity of about 800 people, is also able to offer everything that is most typical of the land of clovers, from traditional ballads to the sound of violin, flute and tambourine, up to rivers and rivers of beer (dark and not) kept in three tanks of 500 liters and delicious dishes strictly “Made in Ireland”, as well as providing its customers with something like 22 screens on which to follow the main sporting events live of all the world. There are also many events scheduled, including – scheduled for next December – the concert of the legendary folk band The Fureys. The award ceremony took place on 10 October at the Mansion House in Dublin, in the presence of the Mayor of the Irish capital and other important personalities.
